Our main emphasis for all our patients, and is part of our logo is that we provide 'PERSONAL EYECARE'

So our staff are here to provide that and will always want to offer the most professional care but in an understanding and personal way.

PROFESSIONAL STAFF

IAN CHALMERS - FBDO CL(HONS)

Managing Director

Qualified in London in 1977. He is a Foundation Fellow of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and the Faculty of Dispensing Opticians and a member Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.

Main Responsibilities in the practice - All types of contact lens fitting and aftercare, and general dispensing, plus the provision of the ORTHOSCOPICS assessments for visual perception problems.

Father of three (all boys), with a keen interest in sport and music - he has to, to keep up with his sons.

LEONA LEIBNER

Optometrist

Leona qualified in 2001 and is a member of the College of Optometrists. She has until recently been working at the hospital eye service and now spends one day a week supervising 3rd Year Optometry students at Cardiff University.

She has travelled extensively and has taken part in two voluntary projects in Africa, examining eyes and providing spectacles with the charity Vision Aid Overseas

Her responsibilities in the practice include all aspects of eyecare and patient care.

LEE GILBERT

Optometrist

Lee has been working with us since 2005 and gained his degree in Optometry from Cardiff University in 2008. Lee undertakes all aspects of eyecare; eye examinations, contact lens fitting, contact lens aftercare and spectacle dispensing. He is a member of the College of Optometrists, accredited on the Welsh Eye Care Initiative to diagnose and manage acute eye problems and also accredited to co-manage refractive surgery patients

After working throughout the UK and overseas Lee has returned to Cardiff and settled in South Wales. When he is not working Lee loves spending time with his wife and two children and is currently enjoying the challenge of renovating their family home.

SOPHIE HAMMOND

Optometrist

Our newest optometrist, Sophie only qualified Summer 2010 - but has worked in the practice over the last year on a part-time basis. Eye examinations with her will be longer - between 45-60 minutes - but extreme care and very thorough tests will be done.

RASNA PREET-RYATT

Dispensing Optician

Rasna is now our new practice manager and her key role is dispensing, plus contact lens work

JACKIE CHALMERS

Dispensing Optician

Qualified in London in 1977. Jackie is a Foundation Fellow of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and the Faculty of Dispensing Opticians. Jackie works on a part-time basis in the practice, as full time the dogs wouldn't get walked and the family not fed!

BEN COPE

Locum Optometrist

He has been at the practice for over 17 years. He qualified at Aston University and is a member of the British College of Optometrists.

Main responsibilities in the practice - All aspects of eyecare and patient care and sports vision. He is also qualified to provide all pre and post operative care for laser refractive surgery. He is registered with the Welsh Eyecare Initiative to provide PEARS examinations. He also does regular home visits for those unable to make it to the practice.

Ben is a father of 2 girls and outside interests include golf, travel and supporting his wife's and daughters' involvement with gymnastics.

LOUISE DRISCOLL

Locum Optometrist

Louise trained at our practice 7 years ago and has since continued on a part-time basis to assist the practice.

Louise qualified at Cardiff University and is a Member of the College of Optometrists. Louise's responsibilities are for general eye examinations and aftercare. She is registered with the Welsh Eyecare Initiative to perform PEARS examinations.

Optical Assistant

In charge of visual field assessments and fundus imaging and had trained in all of the sunglass ranges we stock

ANNE JAMES

Head Receptionist

In charge of all reception and front of house services. Specialises in Eyeplan and contact lenses.

Admin/Accounts

In charge of accounts, administration and our recall system and P.A. to Ian Chalmers

Rhian Woodman

Optical Assistant

General optical assistant for optical dispensing as well as visual fields

Justin Chalmers

Workshop Manager

In charge of glazing of spectacle frames and all orders for spectacles. As well as assisting on reception when required
