A thorough and personal eye examination

An eye examination is about much more than checking whether you need glasses.

Much more than an eye test.

We always explain everything in clear, simple language so you understand exactly what we are seeing and what it means for your eyes.

During your appointment we carefully assess your vision and look at the overall health of your eyes. This allows us to detect early signs of eye conditions and monitor any changes over time.

NHS and private eye examinations

Chalmers welcomes both NHS and private patients.

If you are eligible for an NHS sight test, this will cover a comprehensive eye examination carried out by one of our experienced optometrists.

Many patients also choose to upgrade their appointment to include advanced imaging for an even deeper understanding of their eye health.

Enhanced eye examinations with OCT

For patients who want the most detailed assessment of their eye health, we offer enhanced eye examinations that include OCT scanning.

OCT, or Optical Coherence Tomography, is an advanced scan that creates highly detailed images of the layers inside your eye. It allows us to see changes that cannot always be detected during a standard eye examination.

The scan is quick, comfortable and painless. It provides reassurance that your eyes are being monitored with the latest technology available.

Glaucoma screening and monitoring

At Chalmers we use advanced imaging and detailed assessments to monitor the health of the optic nerve and detect changes early. This allows us to manage your care carefully and refer you for further treatment if required.

Medical retina services

Conditions affecting the retina can sometimes develop without obvious symptoms. Early detection is key to protecting sight. Our medical retina service uses advanced imaging and careful clinical examination to identify and monitor conditions affecting the retina.

Emergency Eyecare

Eye problems can sometimes appear suddenly and require urgent attention. Chalmers has three optometrists qualified as Independent Prescribers. This allows us to assess, diagnose and treat many eye conditions directly within the practice.

Low vision services

For patients living with reduced vision, the right support can make a significant difference to everyday life. Chalmers offers low vision assessments to help patients make the most of their remaining sight.
